Sudden Enlightenment Theatre

Sudden Enlightenment Theatre was established in 1997 by Eun-Hee Kim and incorporated as an IRS 501 (c) (3) nonprofit company in April 1999.
SET combines movement, sound and lightening with minimal sets to create a rich blend of energy and emotional power. Through a poetic theatrical style, SET achieves an immediate connection with the audience by creating a profound meditative emptiness. The foundation of Sudden Enlightenment Theatre is based on team work and exploring limitless subject matters for the production.


The purposes and goals of SET

  • To enrich the cross-cultural experiences of the public by offering an unique and meaningful opportunity through the performance of Korean traditional arts.
  • To encourage the development of creative and experimental talent by exploring different styles and genres of performing art from different international arenas.
  • To provide the public with opportunities to recognize importance of meditative life by producing creative performance with various themes.
  • To create events and ways in which to bring theatre into the community and bring the community into the theatre.
